Success by the world’s top-earning individuals
Do you wish
you could be as successful as the world’s top-earning individuals? Well, you
can be! Use these life lessons from millionaires as motivation to become a top
performer.
Mark
Zuckerberg
I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the
things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress.
Facebook has
become one of the most prominent social networking sites in recent years. The
original website, created by Mark Zuckerberg in his college dorm, worked
slightly differently and was quickly shut down by the college.
Zuckerberg
didn’t let this get him down. He preferred to focus on getting something done,
even if progress was slow, and this belief soon helped him to succeed.
Don’t Let Procrastination
Rule Your Life
Are you one of
those individuals who make a list of things to do, but by the end of the day,
you realize you haven’t done anything?
You are not
alone. Millions of people across the globe struggle with procrastination.
Procrastination
occurs when you delay getting things done. It could be because a task is
difficult, not that glamorous, or maybe you just don’t feel like doing it.
Do not let
procrastination get the better of you and stop you from being the best possible
version of yourself!
There is a
link between the frontal systems of the brain and executive
function (like
self-control) that may cause your procrastination. The brain learns through
repetitive behaviours, so if you continuously delay getting things done, you
are teaching your mind that it is okay to procrastinate.
Do More
Procrastination
is a habit, and habits can change!
The more you
practice excellence, the better you will become at taking action. This is the
premise of the Law of Little Actions.
Here is a
quick tip when procrastination strikes: Breathe deeply six times. Acknowledge
your negative thoughts, then visualize previous successes. Want to attend an

Oprah Winfrey
Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing
that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.
Oprah Winfrey
faced much adversity during her youth, but refused to let these events get her
down; she chose instead to persevere and make a success of her life. She
defeated the odds and soon became a media powerhouse.
Winfrey
focused on her own role in getting the most out of her life. She is her own
motivator because no one else knows what a person does behind closed doors.
You Are Accountable to
Yourself
When you have
strong morals and do what you are supposed to, you have integrity. This is
linked to accountability or taking ownership because you are holding yourself
accountable for your success.
What comes to
mind when you think of accountability?
For many
people, accountability evokes images of consequences or punishment. You need to
change this perception. If things don’t go according to plan, there might be
consequences, but being accountable also helps you to take action.
Live with Integrity
Integrity requires
that you establish strong ethical principles by which you intend to live your
life. Sticking to these principles is where accountability comes in.
Think about
your life and write down the principles that you WANT to live by. You might not
be adhering to them currently, and we will change that, so for now, write down
where you want to be.
You have now
identified a desired state in your principles. Now, think about how you will
achieve these principles in your life. Hold yourself accountable daily to see
how you are making progress and make changes when you stray from your plan.

Elon Musk
I think that's the single best piece of advice:
Constantly think about how you could be doing things better and question
yourself.
Probably one
of the most controversial billionaires, Elon Musk, continues to innovate and
come up with ever more interesting concepts. He heads up Tesla, SpaceX,
Neuralink, and SolarCity and plans on making life on Mars possible.
What makes
Musk so good at brainstorming and pursuing mind-blowing ideas?
Curiosity.
Musk
constantly asks questions about the environment and challenges the status quo.
This has made him successful because he seeks to improve his current reality
and refuses to back down.
Strengthen Your Brain with
Curiosity
Your brain
changes constantly, which is known as neuroplasticity. Every time you give your
brain new information or think about something, you encourage it to construct
and reconstruct neural pathways.
When you are
curious, you question the world around you. This allows you to think more about
why things happen the way they do, identify problems, and conjure up
potential solutions. Asking questions makes you think differently, and the answers you come up with could be your
ticket to success.
Reflect
Being
inquisitive is a habit that you can strengthen and focus on daily.
Take a couple
of deep breaths and identify the first thought that appears in your brain. Now,
question it. Why is it there? What is your brain trying to tell you?
Consider these
questions next:
What is the
one thing you would like to change in your life? How can you do this?
Don’t stop
now. Continue asking questions and explore all kinds of solutions. Want to

J. K. Rowling
It is impossible to live without failing at
something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived
at all, in which case you failed by default.
1. K. Rowling, the author of the acclaimed Harry
Potter series, considered herself a failure before rising to success. Her life
was full of challenges: an ill mother, a failed marriage, rejected manuscripts
and living in poverty with a baby.
At any point
in time, Rowling could have given up or allowed her depression to take over,
but she didn’t let these things get her down. Instead, she considers failure as
an essential part of life.
Don’t Be Afraid of Failing
Every dream
you have and goal you want to achieve comes with risks and the possibility of
failure, but you won’t get anywhere if you have a fear of failure.
The brain
contains a part called the amygdala, which brings fear to the
forefront, especially if there are unknown components to the situation. The
amygdala causes anxiety and stress, and this prevents you from taking action.
Overcome the Fear of
Failure
A major life
lesson is that you have to face your fear head-on because you can’t fail if you
don’t even try.
When you
experience fear, you have to change your mindset. An effective way to do this
is through visualization. The more you visualize your success, the more
you minimize your fear.
Even if you do
fail, it is still a learning opportunity. Investigate what happened, identify
mistakes, and then create a plan to get back on track to achieving your goals.
Michael Bloomberg
To a contrarian like me, constant advice not to do
something almost always starts me quickly down the risky, unpopular path.
As a leading
businessman and politician, Michael Bloomberg is someone you can listen to
when it comes to making the most of your life. Bloomberg worked hard from a
young age and played by the rules, but he didn’t agree with anyone who told him
not to do something.
It is exactly
this mindset that allowed Bloomberg to hold office as Mayor of New York. Both
in politics and business, he frequently created policies that didn’t meet the
approval of many people but still provided exceptional results.
Choose the Unpopular Path
How many times
did someone attempt to dissuade you from doing something?
Did you end up
doing it anyway, partly because they said you shouldn’t?
This is known
as reactance, which occurs when someone tries to put restrictions on your
freedom. When a threat to freedom presents itself, you may decide to counter it
by doing what someone else suggested you shouldn’t do.
In some cases,
this dissuasion is due to fear or because you are putting yourself in danger.
However, some dissuasion stems from disagreements with your opinion, in which
case, you shouldn’t be listening to the other person in the first place.
Make Your Own Decisions
You are the
only person who can control what happens in your life, so choose your own
destiny. The only person who knows what is best for you is you, and you
shouldn’t let other people hold you back from your dreams. This is an important life lesson.
If you want
the best in life, then write down any opinion that is holding you back.
Determine how you can overcome this situation and visualize yourself achieving
your heart’s desires.
